Knowledge Systems
Institute (KSI) is a fully accredited
graduate school of computer and information sciences. KSI has been
a provider of education solutions for over 20 years. We offer certificate
and certification programs, as well as the Master of Science degree
program.
The campus is located in Skokie, IL, a beautiful suburb of the great
city of Chicago. The downtown Chicago Loop area is only 14 miles
from the school. We are also very near to the Evanston campus of
Northwestern University.
The Graduate Program in CIS has nine exciting concentration areas
including Computer Art and Design, Computer Based Education, Computer
Networks, Electronic Commerce, Management Information Systems, Multimedia
Communications, Bioinformatics, Knowledge Management, and Software
Engineering.
Our Certificate Program consists of hands-on courses in computer
science and programming. Students will learn computer science theory
as well as useful and practical programming skills. Several of these
courses can be taken as preparation for specific technical certification
exams including Oracle's DBA (five exams), Microsoft's MCSE Network
Essentials, ComTIA's Network+, and Sun's Java2 Programmer.
KSI offers a distance learning option for students living out-of-state
and for local students unable to attend on-site classes. This option
is open to students of the Master degree program and the Certificate
and certification programs. Our distance learning courses have the
same standards, contents, and requirements as on-site courses but
require more self-discipline. This option is best suited to well-motivated
and independent students.
For students arriving from out-of-state, KSI offers referrals to
nearby "student-shared" apartments. These apartments are
located very near to the school. Rooms in these shared student apartments
can be reserved through the KSI administrative office. Reservation
and deposit must be made at least one month prior to the start of
the term.
Tuition at Knowledge Systems Institute is competitive and very affordable.
All courses are three credit hours, and each credit hour is only
$315 (fall 2002 tuition rate). The environment at KSI is very friendly
and casual. The small, yet diverse student body makes for comfortable
class sizes and a student to faculty ratio of about 5:1. Our full-time
faculty all hold Ph.D. degrees, and all our instructors have advanced
degrees in their fields.
